Key Components of an Access Regime
Service based model + adequate access regime
- Key part is that the access regime also allows access by third parties including competitors of vendor and competitors of the customer.
- Allows vendor, and anyone else, to play traditional vendor role, with access to material and ability to move it forward/service customer base.
- Vendor retains competitive advantage through familiarity but others are able to compete if they choose to.
- Forces competition on service and price rather than monopoly over key component
- Customer may depart from vendor’s direction at its discretion
- Customer may also engage in self help if they so desire
- Allows future proofing and vendor proofing (Vendor meltdown survivable)
