  • Allows vendor, and anyone else, to play traditional vendor role, with access to material and ability to move it forward/service customer base.
  • Vendor retains competitive advantage through familiarity but others are able to compete if they choose to.
  • Forces competition on service and price rather than monopoly over key component
  • Customer may depart from vendor’s direction at its discretion
  • Customer may also engage in self help if they so desire
  • Allows future proofing and vendor proofing (Vendor meltdown survivable)
