Internet filtering and censorship proposals
Research and collaboration project
UNSW's Cyberspace Law and Policy Centre is interested to explore aspects of the Australian Government's Internet filtering and censorship proposals. The aim of our proposed Internet filtering and censorship project is to explore the underlying issues and constraints, with various perspectives and arguments considered on their merits, evidence-based research taken into account, and further research planned and conducted to clarify or explore issues which are unresolved.
The Centre supports the development of collaborative research in this area. We are interested to work with others pursuing similar issues.
- On 27 November 2008 we hosted our first forum for experts and other interested persons. The forum explored some of the potential directions - see the link above for details and presentations. Participants queried how best to pursue issues raised at this forum.
- The Second Workshop was held on 4 March 2009 at the offices of Baker & McKenzie in Sydney.
