• Acquisitions/Supplies should be driven by strategy not ideology

• Realistic assessment of alternatives

• Sober assessment of pedigree and prospects

• Model (massively scaled incremental innovation) may not be appropriate – eg niche products/no critical mass/nature of problem mandates “big bang”.

• Evangelists probably correct for their circumstances, but may be incorrect for yours.
