Abstract:

This work in progress workshop is based on Joeson's presentation in the eChallenges e-2005 conference: "Deficiencies in the Data Protection Law of Hong Kong as exposed by eGovernment", with some recent updates, and includes an introduction to his current research.

His related article entitled "Electronic Government and its Implication for Data Privacy in Hong Kong: Can Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance Protect the Privacy of Personal Information in Cyberspace?" was published in July 2005 in International Review of Law, Computers and Technology, Volume 19, No.2, p.143-163 (Publisher: Taylor & Francis Group Ltd.).

 
  About the speaker:

Joeson Wong is a postgraduate researcher in law at UNSW. He is also barrister-at-Law, Hong Kong; and LLB (Hons), Master of Laws in Information Technology Law, University of Hong Kong, and a member of a number of professional associations in Hong Kong and elsewhere.
